When people ask where I’m from, I usually default to Quincy Illinois rather than New Jersey which is where I was actually born. In all fairness, considering the years I’ve now spent in Georgia I should now be considered from Georgia, having lived in Atlanta for 6 years and now Dacula for 14 years. But why do I automatically say Quincy IL? I only lived there for the entirety of 5 years, 1983-1987. Possibly because those were my teen years, when I was struggling to figure out my place in the world, what to study & call my future profession.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Quincy introduced to me hundreds upon hundreds of drop dead gorgeous turn of the century homes... Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie style, Victorian, Arts & Crafts style not to mention many stylish, modern 70s ranches... in all sizes and price ranges. Luckily in a town of approximately 40,000 the speed limit in most of Quincy is 35 mph, allowing your glance to linger on these red brick beauties. When I think back as to the beginning of my love affair with homes and floor plans, after the Brady Bunch house, Quincy was in the center of it all.
Now living in Georgia, as I wander thru Georgia pasture land searching for homes for my buyer clients, I am charmed by the beauty of the land and simplicity of red barns and farm houses. I’m lucky enough now to be able to help others on their journey in buying and selling homes, feeling privileged to do so.
